Sponge Rollers

Did anyone else out there spend many a night sleeping in sponge rollers? I know I sure did! And boy do those things curl your hair! I have been wanting to curl Kaylen's hair and I finally found some rollers at Wal Mart the other day. Last night after Kaylen's bath we set to putting the rollers in her hair. Now I hate to admit this but as a kid we always put panties on our head to keep from getting our curlers snaged while we slept. They were always clean... so don't go too far with that concept in your mind. For Kaylen, I had plenty a pair that had never been used so she really lucked out. Anyway, this was the scene after I took them down this morning: I must say that she cried the first three times she looked at herself in the mirror. I couldn't stop laughing. Mean old Mommy!

I tried to fix it a bit but her bangs were straight... ugh! That wasn't exactly what I was looking for but I had to be at work in 10 minutes and I am not using a hot curling iron on my wiggley 2 year old! Next time I will have to be sure her bangs are in rollers too... and I think I will use a bigger roller. What do you think?!?!

HOLY CURLS! I would have loved to see her face when she looked in the mirror for the first time - haha! :)

In the first two shots she looks like a movie star! Those are some curls! She looks adorable.

I hated it when my mom would make me wear those overnight! We would sleep with shower caps on our head - I think that's the part I hated the most.

Wow so fun! I do remember doing this as a young-un. What a fun experience. I was a big fan of the Curuso curlers (sp?) The hot pink ones with the steamer. Remember those?!

I can't believe that she left them in her hair, my girls always pull out the curlers before they hit the pillow. I guess you got them tamed as best you could. If nothing else, it's a great memory.

Can we please have a sleepover (adults only) and do this to our hair? Mine (naturally curly) will be HUGE! Let's do it.

I love ashley's suggestion, that would be such a kick-back to my usual routine with the "pink rollers" the night before school pictures...pretty much every year-HA!

Kaylen looked adorable, and really it wasn't as wild when it was pulled half-back...cute look for her! :-)

She looks so cute with her curls! I must admit I was laughing myself at the first picture. I was also a user of the pink sponge curlers.

Yup, Shannon slept in rollers many times. She was in a dance school performance of "Wee Rockettes" and we had to curl her hair for each and every performance.

Ok, from Mom to Mom! Yes bigger curlers work well but if it's too tight take the hair dryer and blow it out some. NEVER BRUSH for this will give you the Tina Turner look! Just a simple hair drying.
