A Mazda 6!

It's that time again! Time to order a new company car. The choices this year were all different than last time. Here was the line up: Mazda 5 (a minivan type thing), Chevy Malibu, Mazda 6, Volvo S40 (too small but nice), and a Nissan Rogue. It came down to the Rogue or the 6... when all was said and done, the 6 had more amenities. We chose Black exterior with beige (looks tanish to me) cloth and leather bucket seats. Of course it might take two months for us to actually get it... but just knowing it is coming is fun!!!

Just curious... which one would you have chosen?

Kaylen is getting so Cute!

Kaylen is such a happy little girl. She has started saying the cutest things! She will randomly say, "I'm foe happy, mommy". Melt my heart! She has the sweetest smile and loves to give hugs and kisses. She has learned that she can get out of bed at night to "go tee-tee". My personal favorite excuse has been, "I need to blow my nose". Where does she come up with these reasons for getting out of bed. One night she came in and said, "Hi, mommy and daddy!" waving the whole way over to our bed. She also walked with authority as if she would have been there sooner but had other things to do first. She climed straight into the bed and laid down. I asked her what she thought she was doing and she looked perplexed. She said, "waying down and going night-night." As if I couldn't tell?!?! I couldn't help but laugh so she got to stay that night. Another funny thing she does is when she toots. She will act surprised and then say that she hears a tooter monster. Then she says, "tooter monfer fay fuse me." I love that her s'es are f's - so cute! She loves her teacher at school. Talks about her all the time! What a great feeling!

Okay... here is a collage of last night... she was playing in her clothes hamper with pooh.

I took a few video's of Kaylen last night of Kaylen being ultra smart. So this post is a bit of a bragfest... but hey, she's my kid and I'm a proud mama.

The first video is for Katherine. She wanted to make this for you so here it is... There is a small shout out to Russ in there too but you have to listen closely.

This video is honestly not as impressive as the next. She can count much better than this but last night she started feeling a little goofy. She skips the teens but she never really likes them anyway. So here she is counting... in her own order ;)

This last one is the awesome one... She can read!!! well, some words at least. She can definitely recall what she has seen before. She knows her friends from school. This is just a few of them but seriously... check out the names of her classmates... odd... the second to the last is truly Barklee. Never heard of that before. I am just amazed that two people agreed on that one. Anyway, she also spells her name for you at the end. She can also pick out letters and lay them in order to spell her name. So she knows them by sight and memory. I think this one is impressive of my little two year old!

Family Portraits

We recently had family portraits made with Alyson Clemons of Eternal Photography. There are really some cute ones in there! I had a blast with her as well. Here is the slideshow. Please tell me which ones you like the best as I will have to be making some decisions soon. I am wanting to put some pics in the hallway upstairs from this venture! So comment, please!!!

The best news I've had in a year!

So today I called IWU (college I am getting my Master's from) and asked about my payment schedule. See, my records showed that I was completely paid up (actually have a credit which I will get back!) but my class schedule said that I had one more 8 week class to go. I never thought that I might not have to take that class! Never in a million years! So I called asking if I still had to pay for it or if that was already covered somehow. She informed me that I would be getting back $200 smackers and I was already in my last class! What the French, Toast?!?! So I will be completely done with weekly classes on Sept. 25!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To say that I am elated would be the understatement of the century! I want to hug absolutely every single person that I see today! I have never had such an unexpected fortunate event!! I am using exclamation points out the wazoooo!!!!!

I will have one last check point meeting on Nov. 27 but other than that ,I will be done in 6 weeks!!!!!! Can anyone believe this exhausting program is almost done?!?! I have a lot to do between now and Sept. 25 but I am just happy to be here! YAHOOO!!!

Grill Out at the Carlisle's

On Saturday we finally had a cookout at the Carlisle's. They have the best backyard (and house for that matter) for the kids to play in. They all really had a great time and it was really fun to watch them all play together. Great memories!!! I ended up with a few really cute shots of Katherine and Rylie but nothing to hang on your wall of Kaylen and Jonah. Thankfully all of our kids are about the cutest things you could imagine so great shot or not... they are still so darling (maybe I'm biast... I don't know!)

Funny Teacher Moment

After lunch my 5th period class is always asking to go to the bathroom... makes sense. Today I had a guy, we'll call him Blake(for his own anonymity), say he needed to go to the bathroom. I noticed he was gone for a long time. While he was gone, a known trouble-maker asked to go to the bathroom. I only let them go one at a time with a pass. So I told him he could go when Blake got back. I noticed that when Blake returned he was exchanging smiles and giggles with the trouble-maker that was now making his way to the bathroom. This made me think that there was something going on in the bathroom that I might need to know about. So I called Blake up to my desk and asked him what it was he was exchanging glances with the other kid about. He tried to avoid the question and say he didn't know what I was talking about.

I should have dropped it but was sure something was going on now.

So I told him I didn't believe that and did he want to tell me what was going on. He said that he was only smiling like that because it probably stinks in there.

Can you imagine having to tell your teacher that you just stunk up the bathroom? I am feeling bad for him as he quietly works on his assignments right now. I thanked him for his extreme honesty and told him he could be seated.

Update of the past few weeks

I didn't edit these pictures so the quality isn't great. I still wanted to let you guys know what we have been up to. Of course, school started. I am extremely close to being done with my Master's. I have 6 credits left!!! I think my last due date is Dec. 3. I finally see that light at the end of the tunnel!!! Last night I had dinner with some friends. It was fun and eventful!!! Now the last two times I have been to PF Changs there has been baby trouble. The first time, I was the responsible party but last night it wasn't Kaylen with the issues so I could appreciate the humor in the most unfortunate event. I did feel sorry for my friend because it really wasn't fun for her to have to handle. Anyway, it was really good to see everyone. While I was gone, Allen and his dad put the basketball goal together so we had a little B-ball time after the sun went down. Kaylen would laugh when we would dribble around her and she would chase after the ball. I know.. K and I are in our Sunday dresses still.

This pic of the front of the house isn't great due to the whole night-time thing. I have been wanting to put a column update on here for my mom... so I will put some better updates on here soon. I think we might get our shower door tomorrow. Stay tuned!!!

We went to my mom's house a few weeks ago and the next pic is of K at the pool enjoying a yummy strawberry popcicle. We had a great visit.

The next three pictures are of our trip to Point Mallard. Kaylen loved the slide and the swing. She loved anywhere she could touch! This is why I am going to be putting her in swim lessons in Sept. She is really afraid of water she can't touch in. Well, the second picture is of Jonah, Kaylen, Rylie and Andrew. They do a lot of things together. I really love that my friends have kids the same age! It helps!!!

This is a picture of Kaylen's first day of school. She is going from 9-1 Monday - Friday at a Mother's day out program. So far, she loves it!
